The Workflow–Orchestrator Bridge

Translate the intended operating design into coordinated, permitted execution.

CONNECT THIS TOPIC TO AI TRANSFORMATION

Connect business workflow decisions to agentic execution. Make the handoff between workflow ownership and orchestration explicit, including context, permissions and failure handling.

Explore the holistic AIDIVE framework

Why it matters

Workflow diagrams can remain disconnected from runtime behavior. The bridge makes clear when local AI, deterministic logic or orchestration is needed.

Keep three responsibilities connected

The workflow defines how work is intended to operate. Orchestration coordinates permitted execution inside that design. Organizational layers assign the accountable roles, structures, interfaces and governing decisions.

Choose the coordination mechanism

Some AI contributions can stay local and bounded. Deterministic workflow or service logic may be sufficient elsewhere. Use orchestration where state, sequencing, dependencies, context transitions or delegated actions require coordination.

Specify the executable bridge

Describe the conditions the runtime needs to route, wait, resume, branch or hand back safely.

  • Which contributions remain local, and which require orchestration?
  • Which context transitions, dependencies and delegated actions are coordinated?
  • What authority, human control and system-level controls constrain each material seam?

Evidence to make visible

  • A workflow-to-execution mapping
  • Defined routing, waiting and resumption behavior
  • Explicit control and observability hooks
